Artists Statement

My Favourite colour is blue.

The blue of the water at the local swimming pool, that used to be my lifesaver, as a child in the hot summer months.

The aqua blue of the water over the limestone floor at Rottnest Island.

Crystal clear aqua blue. You had to dive into it and touch the sand, then head for the surface where the sun played.

The Ultramarine blue of the water on the horizon, sometimes cut by a white sail.

The deep green-blue of the water over the reef. Cray country? Great diving!

The pale green blue of the breaking wave as the light shines through.

The blue of the ocean at Horseshoe Bay, against the white sand.

The pale Blue of the clear summer sky.

I rarely paint clouds- so often in this amazing place there is not a cloud in the sky.

This is what I want to re-capture in my art.

The wonderful Australian seascape, its simple but dramatic beauty, its unique wildlife, and the beach culture that goes with it.

The annual summer holiday.

A relief from the pressures of life today.
